The Ritz-Carlton Club, St. Thomas Reopens After Recovery Efforts from Hurricanes Irma and Maria

ST. THOMAS, U.S.V.I., – October 8, 2018 – The Ladies and Gentlemen at The Ritz-Carlton Club, St. Thomas located in the U.S. Virgin Islands welcomed their first Members and guests back to this extraordinary resort over the weekend. The resort has been closed since two extremely powerful Category 5 hurricanes, Hurricanes Irma and Maria, impacted the U.S. Virgin Islands, and specifically St. Thomas on September 6, 2017 and September 20, 2017, respectively.

Upon reopening, Members and guests were able to enjoy the pool, hot tubs, beach, Coconut Cove restaurant and resort activities. The Grand Palazzo Club is anticipated to open in November. The landscaping at The Ritz-Carlton Club, St. Thomas was a welcome sight for Members and guests, having been redesigned and replaced to better than its original splendor. Members and guests also had the benefit of seeing the outcome of other major projects that were completed prior to reopening, including the installation of new elevators and two new generators, painting of the buildings’ exteriors and replacing and repairing air conditioning units, doors and gutters.   

“It has been a difficult year for our Ladies and Gentlemen and our resort as we all have been recovering from these two catastrophic hurricanes,” said Craig Sacco, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton Club, St. Thomas. “We are so excited to welcome back our Members and guests to their ‘Home Away from Home.’ Furthermore, it is fantastic to have our Ladies and Gentlemen back at the resort.”

After a lengthy and ongoing recovery process, the island of St. Thomas continues to welcome back visitors. Many restaurants and shops have reopened for business both in the Red Hook and Charlotte Amalie areas of the island and much of the foliage has made an incredible recovery.
