Table 53 Selects Charity of the Month for May, June, and July

Kaua’i Community College Hospitality Program, Friendship House and The Kapa‘a Middle School Choir Boosters Club to receive donations

PO‘IPŪ BEACH, Hawai’i – May 30, 2019 – Sheraton Kaua’i Resort’s signature restaurant, RumFire Po‘ipu Beach, has selected the May, June and July beneficiaries for its unique giving program, Table 53.

Named after a popular private table at the restaurant, the Table 53 program was launched in 2012. Each month, all net food and beverage proceeds from dinner service at the table are donated to different local charities. In 2018, the resort expanded the program and monthly donations now include rental proceeds from a private bungalow and cabana.

Since its inception, the Table 53 initiative has raised more than $270,000 for local charitable causes.

Recipients for May, June and July include:

  • May – Kaua’i Community College’s Hospitality Program supports educational efforts put forward by the Hospitality and Tourism program. Table 53 funds collected in May will be used to support student success and help ensure an educated workforce for the visitor industry.
  • June – Friendship House is a recovery-focused program that offers adults with serious mental illness the opportunity to take an active role in their own rehabilitation. Table 53 funds collected in June will be used to support the organization’s mission of providing a safe, accepting environment reflective of the Clubhouse Model of Psychiatric Rehabilitation.
  • July – Kapa’a Middle School Choir Boosters Club is a non-profit organization that performs at a variety of community services events. In addition, members of the KMS Choir Booster Club support other organizations with their events. Table 53 funds collected in July will be used to purchase new uniforms for the students and defray the cost of registration and workshops for the Heritage Music Festival.

RumFire Po‘ipu Beach is located in a stunning setting along Kaua‘i’s southern coastline and features a diverse menu of locally sourced cuisine with global influences. Its extensive cocktail menu includes the largest rum selection on the island. Table 53 is a private booth with ocean views overlooking a beautifully landscaped courtyard, inviting fire pits and striking sunsets. The restaurant’s signature offerings include the crab-crusted fresh catch and fried Brussels sprouts. The program reminds guests, “The more you dine, the more we donate.”

Guests also support the giving program when they book the exclusive Bungalow 53, a private, poolside bungalow that features seating for six, or the resort’s Cabana 53, a luxurious two-person shaded lounge chair directly adjacent to the beautiful sands of Po`ipū Beach. Cost for a full day rental is $150 and $75, respectively.

Those interested in participating in the Table 53, Bungalow 53 or Cabana 53 programs are encouraged to make reservations in advance by calling 808-742-1661.
